So I'm trying to make this 2D platformer game in flash (using Professional 8 and Action Script 2). I've been searching all over for a tutorial to help me create a camera system that follows the player as he moves, but haven't been successful. I'm turning to newrounds for assistance. If you could, please help! Send me the script, or a link to a tutorial, or just give me some advice. Anyway, hope you can help.

I got the idea when looking through some old school notebooks I found. I'd like to make a simple top down, space shooter (you know the one's where your a little space ship shooting at asteroids and UFO's moving down the screen) but the whole art style is as if somebody just doodled it in there notebook. So everything would be cut out of lined paper, and colored in with a sketchy, crayon texture. If your interested in helping out, then listen up...
I need maybe one to four programmers (You'll need to know how to code different power-ups and weapons that our space ship can collect and use, as well as menu screens, character movement, AI and all of the other essentials needed to make this kind of game), and a sound designer to help find/create the music in the game (Something cool, calm and soothing like in the game "Magic Pen". And especially NO TECHNO). I'll be supplying all of the animations and sprites with possibly one other animator.
If YOU want in, give me a shout right here on Newgrounds or at perry.q@live.ca (preferably Newgrounds, I don't really check my e-mail that often).
Cheers, Perry-Winkle.

The art and animations are all good, but Egoraptor's crazy, cartoonyness is kinda lacking in my animation. It just doesn't seem AWESOME enough to be an AWESOME spoof. Anyway, I think I bit off a bit more than I could chew here being just one guy. Maybe I'll try again when I become more experienced with this flash thing. But hey, I'd be happy to help anyone with a project of there own.
Cheers, perry-winkle.
So I've recently got back from my vacation to Florida and have discovered upon my return an "Art Portal" on Newgrounds. Immediately I was sucked in, I started creating works of art that I never thought could possibly be created with a mouse (in my opinion at least). Any way, I suggest you guys check them out.
I also don't get this "scouting" thing... could anyone elaborate?
Cheers, perry-winkle.
So the [PROTOTYPE] awesome spoof, [prAWESOMEtype], is going pretty well. I predict that when I'm done, the movie will only be a minute or two in length. I've mostly been experimenting with talking animations and finding better ways to do them. All-in-all I think that if this turns out the way I want it to, it will be one of the best non-Egoraptor made awesome cartoons of all time! I'm still open to suggestions to what you might think should be included in my animation.
Cheers, Perry-Winkle.
I recently bought the game, [PROTOTYPE], for my X-BOX. So I'm playing the game, slicing people in half, throwing cars at helicopters, and essentially kicking some serious ass. And I stop and think to myself "Wow, this game is AWESOME!" then it hit me... maybe I should make an AWESOME cartoon about [PROTOTYPE]. It's going to be called [prAWESOMEtype]. I have a great idea that I'm not going to reveal just yet. The only hint I'll give you is this: "TRA, LA LA, LA LA..."
Any way, here's a picture of what the opening page will look like. The animation itself won't be as detailed as this. But please, give me some idea's to what you think should be in the animation and I'll give it some thought to whether or not it should be included.
P.S. Sorry for the low picture quality, I used flash to make the picture and this doesn't accept those kind of files. Copy and pasting the image to MS Paint was my only option.
Cheers, Perry-Winkle.
Here's the "good copy" concept art of what the main character in my upcoming game, LOCKDOWN, is going to look like. You might be saying "Where the hell's his face?!" don't worry... it's all apart of the game. I just don't want to reveal too much of the story line right now.
P.S. Sorry for the pixalation.
P.P.S. Little known fact: I don't use one of those fancy-spancy stylus mouses like most big time flash animators use. I use a regular old mouse. Pretty good, eh?
Just a little sketch I did of the main character of my upcoming game, LOCKDOWN. I didn't bother erasing the "skeletal" lines just because I thought it looked cool the way it is.
Just thought I'd make this concept art for LOCKDOWN. It's the main character's hand... if you didn't quite clue in. Pretty good, huh!
I've been doing quite a bit of brain storming for this new game I'd like to make called LOCKDOWN. It's a 2D platformer and think if I got the right people behind it, it could turn out really well. So if your interested listen up...
You play as a cloned, human-like, experiment. You start off in an underground test facility where you, the free running experiment, must escape. Here's the cool part... since you play as a clone, when you die, instead of restarting the level as the same guy, you get "reborn" as a new clone. Some of the puzzle elements in the game may force you to die as one clone and come back as another to complete the puzzle. There won't be a lot of combat, more laser dodging, puzzle solving and crazy acrobatic stuff.
If your interested in helping me out then just give me a shout. My email address is perry.q@live.ca if you want to send the message to me via email. Otherwise just send me a message on Newgrounds.
